Production printers, wide-format printers and small presses are heavier, longer and more delicate than an office copier. USA Copier Movers plans each move around the machine: how it comes out of the building, how it is packed, and how it gets into its new location.
Equipment We Move
- Production printers and digital presses
- Wide-format and large format printers and plotters
- Small offset and printing presses
- Finishers, feeders and other attached modules
Rigging, Crating and Palletized Freight
- Rigging: moving heavy machines out of and into buildings with the right equipment
- Crating: custom crates for long-haul moves and fragile equipment
- Palletized freight: machines secured and stretch-wrapped on pallets for transport
How to Ship a Large Format Printer
- Follow the manufacturer's shipping steps: many wide-format printers have a transport mode or locks for the print head and carriage. Ask your technician if you are unsure.
- Remove ink, media and loose parts: take out rolls, media and anything that can move or leak, and box accessories separately.
- Detach stands and modules: stands, baskets and add-on units are usually removed and packed on their own.
- Crate or palletize: pad the printer and secure it in a crate or on a pallet so it cannot shift.
- Plan the route out: measure doorways, hallways and elevators before moving day, and tell us about stairs or a loading dock.
Many of the same steps apply to copiers. See our copier shipping prep checklist and how to move a copier guide.

Printing Press and Large Format Printer FAQ
How do you ship a large format printer?
Put the printer in its transport mode if it has one, remove ink, media and loose parts, detach stands and modules, then crate or palletize it so it cannot shift. We handle the packing and transport for you.
Do you provide rigging for printing presses?
Yes. We use rigging equipment to move heavy presses and production printers out of and into buildings.
Should my printer be crated or palletized?
It depends on the machine, the distance and how fragile it is. Crating is common for long-haul and delicate equipment, and palletizing works for many shorter moves. We will recommend the right option.
How much does it cost to move a printing press?
It depends on the machine's size and weight, rigging needs, crating, and distance. Call (866) 216-7742 or request a quote for a firm price.
Do you move printing equipment nationwide?
Yes. We move production printers, wide-format printers and small presses anywhere in the U.S.
Do you set up or calibrate the printer after delivery?
No. We move and place the equipment. Your technician or the manufacturer handles setup and calibration.
